Samosa is a popular snack in Southeast Asia, a fried or baked
triangular pastry with a filling which may include spiced potatoes, onion, peas,
coriander, and lentils, or ground beef. At tonight’s dinner, there is one samosa.
Thali
(meaning "plate" in hindi) is an Indian meal with contents varying from one
regional cuisine to another. A thali is a
selection of different dishes, usually served in small bowls. Typical dishes
include rice, dhal, vegetables, chapati or naan, yoghurt, small amounts of
chutney or pickle, and a sweet dish to top it.
Kerala is
located in the south west of India on
the Arabian Sea in the
west and networked by 44 rivers. Kerala
enjoys a long shoreline with serene beaches, tranquil stretches of emerald
backwaters, lush hill stations and exotic wildlife, sprawling plantations and

Dhal (also Dal or Daal, or Dahl) is a
preparation of pulses (dried lentils, peas or beans) which have been stripped of
their outer hulls and split. It is a thick stew prepared from these, a mainstay
of Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, and Bangladeshi cuisine.
Rogan Josh
is a lamb dish from Kashmir and is
popular in India, Pakistan and Singapore. Rogan means oil in Persian,
while josh means heat, hot, boiling, or passionate. Rogan josh thus means
cooked in oil at intense heat. Another interpretation of the name is derived
from the word rogan meaning color and josh meaning passion, hot or
red. So this is a meat dish which is red in color
Chapati
or Chapatti or Chapathi is an unleavened flatbread (also known as
roti) from the Indian subcontinent. Versions
of it are found in Turkmenistan and in East African countries Kenya, Uganda and
Tanzania.
